This website was set up to better coordinate major projects of Habitat for Humanity Singapore.
Habitat for Humanity Singapore intends to use www.build4hope.org as a platform for all to access information relating to specific fundraising or advocacy projects of significant scale. We have named this build4hope.org, because that is what we are all attempting to do: encouraging people from all walks of life to come together, so that we can build hope for the millions living in poverty housing all over the world.
The first major build4hope project in 2007 seeks to commemorate the completion of our 1,500th house in Meulaboh for Tsunami relief (in collaboration with Singapore Red Cross). This project is conducted in three broad areas:

Cathay Pacific/Habitat Youth Exchange Programme |
With the kind sponsorship of Cathay Pacific Airways, a team of young people from a local secondary school will be traveling to Hong Kong to participate in home renovation for an elderly poor, followed by a Habitat house build at Dada Village, KunMing China. In return, a youth team from Hong Kong will come over to Singapore later, to clean up a house of an elderly poor in Singapore, followed by a house build at Batam. Tell you a secret... we are planning celebrities to go along with them. |
